Career Fair For Our 9th Graders

Last week, the guidance department hosted a introduction to careers for our 9th grade students.   Students had previously completed a interest survey of possible careers.   Based upon the student interest, Mt. Hope welcomed a Forensic Scientist, Nurse Practitioner, Mechanical Engineer, Psychology, Police Office, Chief Information Officer, Actor/Musician and a Sports Reporter.   The 9th graders learned about the career and the variety of pathways that these professionals took to reach their current positions.

The guidance department looks forward to hosting these types of events in the future so that our students can learn about the wonderful world of work and careers that are available to them.    I read the other night that 4 out of 7 jobs that currently exist DID not exist a few years ago.   It is our hope that sparking student interest will not only allow students to learn what is out there, but to inspire them to imagine and invent jobs in our rapidly changing world.
