This week's scholarships--February 13

There are several scholarships this week.   Please take advantage of the amount of generous local scholarships available to you.

Rhode Island State Elks Association Vocational Grant Application Program
This is for students planning to pursue a vocational/technical program leading to a two year degree program or technical certification.

The application is due April 11, 2015.    The applications can be found in the Guidance Office.

People's Credit Untion
Student must be accepted into a four year college university program during the 2015 school year.
This is Due April 2.   Applications can be found in the Guidance Office.

Timothy Daponte Scholarship
Seniors Mt. Hope Boys soccer player attending a four year college or trade school.
The application is due by March 15th.   The application can be found in the Guidance Office.

First Congregational Church
This is a $1000 scholarship is available to graduating seniors.   The application deadline is May 22.  The application can be found in the Guidance Office.

Raymond E. Soucy Tradesman Scholarship
This is a scholarship for those who intend to pursue a career as a tradesman or technical specialist.   The application deadline is April 30, 2015.   Applications can be found in the Guidance Office.

George E. Dion Memorial Scholarship
This is for a Mt. Hope Senior who has participated in either cross country, indoor or outdoor track and has earned All Division, All Class or All State honors.    This application is due April 10.   The application can be found in the Guidance Office.

Bo Nerone Scholarship
The applicant must be a senior of Mt. Hope High School who has been accepted at an accredited institution of higher learning.    The deadline is May 22.   Applications can be found in the Guidance Office.

KDMF "Make a Difference" Scholarship
This is in memory of Katie DeCubellis.   Students must have good academic standing and have demonstrated good decision making.    This is due May 1.    Applications can be found in the Guidance Office.  

KDMF "Nobody's Glory....Everybody's Gain" Scholarship
This is in memory of Katie DeCubellis.   Students must have good academic standing and have demonstrated a great positive attitude. This is due May 1.    Applications can be found in the Guidance Office.  

KDMF "Victim Relief" Scholarship
This is in memory of Katie DeCubellis.   Students must have good academic standing and have been physically or emotionally affected by a crash involving an impaired driver.    This is due May 1.    Applications can be found in the Guidance Office.  

Mt. Hope Robotics Senior Scholarship
Students must be a current member of the Mt. Hope Robotics Club, be a Mt. Hope Senior and meet the criteria.   Applications can be found in the guidance office.   This is due May 15.

This week's scholarships

We received the following scholarships this week:

Community Concert @ St. Michael's Music Scholarship

This $1000 college scholarship to a graduating senior who plans on pursuing a degree in a music related field.

Please pick up the application in the guidance office.

Kayleigh Ann Raposa Memorial Scholarship

The applicant must be a senior at Mt. Hope and enrolled in an institution of higher learning.   Applicants must have participated in one of the following: Girls JV or Varsity Soccer, Basketball or track.

The deadline is April 24.   The applications can be found in guidance.

The Alice Sullivan Memorial Fund
This is for a female student athlete.   Please pick up the application in the guidance office.   The application is due Friday, March 20, 2015.

This is a new local scholarship!!

The Angie K. Dolan Memorial Foundation Scholarship
This is presented to a graduating senior who best meets the following academic and personal criteria: GPA 3.25 or greater, 4 years participation in extracurricular or community service and acceptance to a 4 year accredited college or university

The scholarship is available in the guidance office.  The deadline is April 1.

Report Cards will be distributed on Wednesday, February 4

Due to our wintery blasts, report cards will now be distributed to students on Wednesday, February 4th.

This week's scholarships.....January 23

Information about all of these scholarships can be found in the guidance office.   Please take advantage of the amount of scholarships that are available to you.   Every dollar that you are awarded counts!!

JP Medeiros Jr. Memorial Scholarship:   Due April 30th
This scholarship will be awarded to a member of the Mt. Hope Huskies hockey team.

Joseph Rainey Memorial Scholarship:  This is due May 15th.    In order to be eligible for this scholarship, you must have participated in at least one sport at Mt. Hope High School.

Vincent J. Santo Memorial Scholarship:  Due April 30th
This student must have been an active participant in the Mt. Hope High School Hockey Program.

Jessie Molasky Scholarship: Due April 15th
Student must plan on pursuing a career in Library Science and/or teaching.

MHHS Student Council Scholarship: Due May 22nd
This is for Mt. Hope graduating seniors who display leadership and good academic and social standing.

Michael Mercurio Memorial Art Scholarship: Due May 15th
Two scholarships will be awarded to students who wish to follow their dream of pursuing the arts.

Rotary Club Scholarship--Bristol:  Due May 15th
Applicants must be a high school senior and a resident of Bristol.

Rhode Island Building Industry Scholarship Fund
Students wishing to pursue education in the construction field should email mjmyette@cox.net to find out about scholarships.

Rhode Island Society of Professional Engineers
This is a scholarship for seniors who wish to pursue a degree in engineering.    Information can be found at www.rispe.org.

End of the quarter!

Today is the end of the second quarter and the first semester.    Report cards will be distributed to students on Friday, January 30.

Homeroom will be first thing on Monday morning so that students can receive copies of their updated Semester 2 schedules.

Scholarships---January 9, 2015

Red Sox Foundation---DUE March 6, 2015---$1000 Scholarship

Winners are chosen based up academic performance, demonstrated community service and eligibility for financial aid.   This application requires an essay.    Come down to the guidance office to get this application today.

Once again, the guidance office and our seniors continue to fully immersed themselves in the college application  process now that early decision season has passed.   We are proud of our students as college acceptances begin to arrive in the inboxes of our soon to be alumni.

This week's scholarships...December 19

This week, the guidance office received information about the following scholarships:

Massachusetts Credit Union League--Application is due on February 2nd.   This application requires that students submit an essay, in addition to grades, extracurricular activities and proof of applicant or parent/guardian membership at St. Anne's Credit Union.  The application can be found in the guidance office.

Paul F. Ronci Scholarship
This is for a full-time student who has attained academic excellence and demonstrates financial need. Applications are due by March 31, 2015.    Visit Paulfroncischolarship.org or pick up a paper application in the guidance office.

Desiree Mesolella Art Scholarhsip
Students must attend a 4 year college or school majoring in an art field.   The application can be found in the guidance office.   The scholarship is due April 20.   Applications can be found in the guidance office.

IBPO Local 304 Scholarship
Local 304 will offer a $1000 scholarship.   This is for a graduating senior who has been accepted into an accredited institution.   The recipient must pursue a career in law enforcement/social services.   The deadline is May 1,   Applications can be found in the guidance office.

Bristol Narrows Improvement Association
Applications can be obtained from the Guidance Department.    This award requires an essay, letter of recommendations and a copy of the financial aid letter from your College/University of choice.   Applications will be accepted from March 1 to May 1.   Applications can be found in the guidance office.

Holiday Break

The holiday break officially begins on Tuesday, December 23 at 2:30 at Mt. Hope High School.  Schools will reopen on Monday, January 5th.

This week's scholarship information---December 12

We received information about three great local scholarships.

1) Bristol County Lions Club Scholarship
The deadline is May 8th.   Applications are available in the guidance office.

2) Marcia F. King Memorial Scholarship
Student must be a graduating Mt. Hope senior.   The senior must display academic proficiency and or extracurricular achievement in science.    The senior must want to pursue higher education, ultimately in a science related field.

The deadline is May 15.   Applications are available in the guidance office.

3) Peter Sepe Memorial Scholarship
Students must meet the following criteria: graduating senior planning to attend an accredited institution of higher learning; Warren resident; good sportsmanship on the field and a leader to his/her teammates on and off the field.

Hamilton Relay Scholarship $500
Applicant must be a graduating senior who is deaf, hard of hearing, deaf-blind or difficulty speaking.
Applicant must complete and submit application, essay, signed talent release form and letter of recommendation to be eligible.

Application packet can be found in the guidance office.   Applications are due on March 2.

ASVAB Testing on January 7th

If any student is interested in taking the ASVAB in January, please see your guidance counselor to make arrangements.
