Summer STEM Opportunity from Rensselaer

Today, I received information about a summer learning experience from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.   I hope that students who are interested in pursuing a STEM career take the time to investigate this program and apply.

We invite you to apply to the PREFACE Summer Program 2014 at Rensselaer!

PREFACE is a two-week residential summer experience for talented high school sophomores and juniors who will enter 11th or 12th grade in fall 2014, from groups that have been historically and traditionally underrepresented or underserved in science, engineering, and technological fields, and are interested in pursuing careers in engineering and technological professions.

To qualify, applicants must be entering the 11th or 12th grade in September, 2014.  The PREFACE Selection Committee will review each application and make its recommendation to the Project Director. Criteria are high school academic performance, standardized test scores, quality of essay, and recommendations. In addition, since all programs are in English, students must have a strong understanding of the English language.

The deadline is March 31, 2014. Applications will not be accepted after that date. Annually, the number of applicants far exceeds available funding. Completed applications and supporting documents should be sent to
