College Board Testing Accommodations

I want to inform you of a service available for students with disabilities from the College Board, the educational testing service that administers the PSAT, SAT, SAT Subject Tests and Advanced Placement examinations.    The College Board has created a process that allows students with disabilities to receive accommodations on its tests.

As a parent, you may apply for accommodations on your child’s behalf.  You will be required to fill out the paperwork and provide the necessary documentation to the College Board.  The College Board website provides information about documentation guidelines.   The information and forms that you need to begin this process can be found at http://www.collegeboard.com/ssd.    The deadline for the October administration of the SAT is August 17, 2012.   The deadline for the PSAT is August 29, 2012.    With limited exceptions, once the College Board approves accommodations, students may use these accommodations on all tests administered by the College Board.

If you choose to apply for accommodations on your child’s behalf, our Services for Students with Disabilities Coordinator, Ms. Lisa Martin, will be available to answer questions that will help you apply for the accommodations.
